Routine Tasks

We all have tasks we find unpleasant and don't want to do.

A therapist can help explore the reasons: Did someone force me to wash dishes? Is someone else "supposed" to it? Could dishwashing represent the last straw in my overburdened life?

This can be a fruitful inquiry if you happen to have a therapist.

Or you could try setting aside the usual negative judgment (e.g., "I hate washing dishes"), put soothing music on, breathe deeply, and sink your hands into a basin full of warm, scented bubbles. Love those dishes and the nourishing meal they provided. Enjoy the process, take your time, wash with care, and notice how lovely they are now that they are restored to their original spotless glory, drying on the rack waiting to serve up the next meal.

Make the time you spend with yourself a relaxing part of your day instead of a chore.

Then apply this same strategy to everything else you "hate" to do, and notice how drastically your life changes.
