Best Life

Years ago, someone whose life seemed like a dumpster fire at the time smiled broadly and told me they were living their "best life." I was struck by their apparent disconnect with reality, and yet, I recognized their sincerity. As with most things, the view within a situation can differ vastly from the outside.

So what exactly is our best life? It can't be millions of dollars, a great career or the admiration of others, because we may never have those things. The best life must be the ability to find joy, purpose, and meaning in whatever circumstances we find ourselves in at the moment.

That dumpster fire was a Zen master!
