I drove through the Pocono Mountains in Northeastern Pennsylvania, where a storm had coated the trees in a thick layer of ice. When the morning sunlight hit the trees, the forest was suddenly lit with millions of multicolored diamonds flashing in the light. So beautiful, I thought I was hallucinating! This incredible sight went on for a hundred trippy miles.
I passed a billboard that said something like, "When the situation does not change, we are challenged to."

Also look for this imagery in a future story! I will add this spectacle to the 4th book in The Stain series, Welcome Home, as Cassandra returns to the Adirondack mountains to visit her childhood home of Lake Placid, NY. Ever wonder where writers get ideas? haha yessss... now you know!
Here is my interpretation:
Trees can't pick themselves up and shake it off. They have to wait for the warmth to lighten their load. Some of those trees drooped over precariously, hovering on the choice to grow stronger or break. Trees need to be strong to weather the storms of life, as we all do. But unlike trees, we can walk away from unhealthy situations.
