Fact: we humans love to complain, but we do not like to change. We keep adding pillows to our ruts to avoid the pain of climbing out. Whether it's staying in the job or relationship we hate for 20 years or not starting a new project because the timing seems "off," the reason is the same - the rut we are already in is familiar and comfortable. We might experience something more unpleasant if we leave, so why bother?
When we reach for a little bit of weed, a drink, a piece of cake, a television remote, or a credit card to soothe the pain, we make it harder to leave. Ruts are sneaky like that.
The only way to find motivation is to stop overeating, sober up, go without and face facts. We have to get so uncomfortable that whatever comes next must be better than THIS.
Today's challenge is to put that rut-trapper thing down and do something different. You know what I am talking about. You can do it!
