Recognize Limitations and Let Them Go

An incredible thing happened when I was finally allowed back on Facebook yesterday. Instead of feeling elated to finally be freed from Facebook “Jail,” I was so sad I didn’t want to plug back in.

I suddenly realized what a cheap substitute Facebook has been for real human connection over the years. We are like lab rats fed saccharine who slowly starve to death for lack of genuine sustenance. When access is arbitrarily denied, as it was with me, we miss the illusion it provided.

Overreliance on virtual contacts has kept me from forming satisfying relationships in the real world. This was a painful wake-up call to acknowledge how deeply lonely I have been. And yet, pain that brings awareness is a blessing, and for that, I am grateful.

To settle for anything less than authentic human connections is limiting.

I am done with limitations.

Please come out to see me in the Real World on December 11, 2021, @ 5:00 pm at the Sacred Root Kava Lounge & Tea Bar, 103 S. Geneva Street, Ithaca, NY.
