On the way to realizing the dream, we need to be mindful of thoughts that can trip us up, like comparing ourselves to others. “Overnight” success is a myth. No one is born a master in their field. No one. Excellence takes talent and practice to develop.
This woman had to climb to the top of the mountain. She feels victorious because she had a vision, did her best, and achieved what she set out to do. There is no cheering audience, no riches, or calls for television interviews. So why bother, right? Perhaps she simply loves to see the view from the top.
Our work should be rewarding in its own right - a passion, a calling, something we couldn’t imagine not doing. Like the mountain climber, the real reward is internal.
So while some competition may be motivating, comparing our paths to others is not. The wise focus on their own vision, remain open to inspiration and keep honing their skills. Perhaps a sequence of events will make us an overnight success someday. Or maybe not. It doesn’t really matter, does it?
