We tend to think of compassion as kindness given to those who are lonely or hurting.
Today's mindfulness challenge is to allow the separation between "us" and "them" to blur. Let's be kind to ourselves and recognize we are lonely and hurting too. This is how we recognize the pain in others so well.
If compassion is a gift, it is a gift of identification: "I see myself in you."
